Thursday 21st November
Today was the day we had to hand in our two briefs for Shirley they were the Faces in places brief and the all about Whitby brief, I had finished 1 which was the all about Whitby all I need to do was present my work with my team to the group, I thought I did really well speaking clearly and keeping eye contact with people.
At 5 oclock we then had to hand in our Faces in places work I rushed to finish this as I forgot to do certain points of this brief and so I finished in time but if I was to change anything I would try to manage my time better and also if I don’t understand something I need to ask about that subject.
Also today as I was trying to finish my faces in places work I did not really understand what the words Domestic and Industrial actually meant so I took it in myself to find out what these words meant so this is what I found out:
Domestic: Domestic basically means inside home such as appliances, beds, plugs and lights. You can even associate this with cracks on the inside of house walls even taps and sinks. After researching this I found the unit a little bit easier as I now understand the brief more. This lead to me finishing the whole unit on time as this was the last part of my brief I needed to do.
My final work had these 2 images instead of the unclear images which I had in Natural and Domestic
I also did a bit of research towards this project the research was looking at different expression of faces and try and link them to the pictures I chose.
The links to the websites I looked at are :http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/anthropomorphism
These links helped me in my research as they led me to the faces I chose and also the funny or distinctive facial expressions.
Wednesday 4th December
Today with Adam we took a different approach to the lesson as there was no printer Adam had to illustrate the days work and did he succeed we had a great lesson learning about Art Deco and surrealism.
First we walked around the room taking snapshots of the drawings and questions we then started to discuss what happened in USA between 1920 an 1929.
We then discussed all the different people and artists connected to these areas and then to finish we then played a game of juxtaposition, for me I sat opposite Adam Roberts and as he said a word I had to say something completely irrelevant to his word for example he said wood I had to say something like marshmallow.

Today we took the time to familiarise ourselves with the badge job as I already knew about it I went straight into researching and designing my badge design.
To start of I looked at the brief and it said the client wanted the Hugh Baird logo in the badge and also they wanted the words “Award of Excellence” in there as well.
So I began researching shapes of badges and what I found was the most common shape was a round circular shape and also I researched excellence and the shape which defines this was a star shape.
So my design as you can see has taken the star design and transformed it into this:
Tuesday 3rd December
Today as I had to go in as there was a meeting I got informed that the keys to the new building are going to be handed over on the 16th of December.
Also the meeting was about any issues or problems which have affected anyone around the collage, which for me there was only 1 issue and that was the bursary item pick up date was way over due and we waited a month for them, after that was resolved by they said there not going to give a set date out anymore on the forms we then spoke about security issues and things the other people wanted to speak about.
Friday 29th November
Today with Andy instead of being in the Space centre we decided to go in the Lobby of the collage were there was seats and a discussion area for us to talk. After being there talking to each other about recent and oncoming tasks we then started to work on our Quality Unit Project.
At 1 o’clock we then made our way to David Rigby’s office to discuss what he wanted within the design and how he would like us to approach it while designing his Logo.
Our finding are on the website Moodshare link is at bottom of the post
Thursday 28th November
Today with Shirley we started to learn about Golden Section which has been around since 490Bc which is a very long time ago, Golden section is a rectangle shape which is split in halves but after it has been split in half, 1 half is split in half and so on.
We then started to create our own design using Golden Section, I decided doing mine on a design of a tractor as to me the image of the Golden Section graph looks similar to a shape of a tractor.
These were my final designs of the tractor using Golden Section

Today we finished of our book binding in Andy’s lesson, we started were we left of, we started with finishing the holes in the pages to get ourself ready to put the needle through, then we started with the hard part which was to get the needle through the hole with the thread which is waxed to make it more durable.
We then began to french stitch which involved threading the needle in an out of the holes we created, we then added another page to the book we had just done but I ran out of string which involved me creating a knot like this:
I then carried on the previous steps to create my final, finished and first ever french stitched book.
